If you have read this far you have seen a lot of photos of children and almost no names. That is deliberate.
The rule
We do not name the children of Rainbow House on this site. We do not name the families whose homes we are rebuilding, and we do not name their village. We use group photos from our own trips, taken with the people in them knowing we were there, and we do not use a single child's face to raise money.
Why
Three reasons.
First, they are grown now and they have their own lives. A name on a charity website follows you around in a way nobody asked for.
Second, the families who lost their homes in the flood are grieving. They did not sign up to be a fundraising story. They agreed to let us help.
Third, this is not about one child or one family. Some of our kids lost family in the flood. So did friends we have known in those villages for years. The house we build in March is for one family, but it stands for all of them.
What we show instead
We show you the work. The camps, the line outside the school, the banner the kids painted, the temple steps in Bhaktapur in 2013. We show you the walk across the Sahara, live, and the house going up in March, with the costs. If you want to meet the kids, watch the film. They chose to be in it, and they tell it in their own words.
One exception
The film the kids made has their names on screen, because they made it and they wanted them there. We have left it exactly as it is.
