Sponsor a kilometer.
If you have ever wanted to give somewhere you could actually watch, this is it. One PayPal account, 100 percent to the work in Nepal.
Sponsor a kilometer
I'm not sure if it's for you, but most people who get this far give a dollar a kilometer.
Here is what that looks like. 120 kilometers each, so a dollar a kilometer is $120 for one of us or $240 for both. Every gift goes through the Center for Global Change PayPal account, and every dollar of it goes to the house in Nepal, because we pay the trek, the flights and every other cost ourselves.
Any amount works. The presets are just the math.
Opens PayPal in a new tab. Card payments without a PayPal account work there too. PayPal emails you a payment receipt right away, and for any gift of $250 or more we send a written acknowledgment from the Center for Global Change for your tax records.
Tax deductible
Center for Global Change is a US 501(c)(3) nonprofit, EIN 27-0371054. Your PayPal receipt is your record for tax purposes.
How the money moves
Gifts land in the C4GC PayPal account, which Debbie runs. The rebuild is paid for from that account in Nepal, in March 2027. We will post what was built and what it cost.
Card without PayPal
PayPal takes debit and credit cards without an account. Card payments by Stripe are coming to this page too.
Questions people ask
- Does 100 percent really go to Nepal?
- Yes. Every dollar donated goes to the rebuild in Nepal. Aaron and Debbie pay the trek, the flights, the hotels, the website and every other cost themselves, out of their own pockets, not out of donations.
- Is my gift tax deductible?
- The Center for Global Change is a US 501(c)(3) nonprofit, EIN 27-0371054, so gifts are deductible to the extent the law allows. PayPal emails you a payment receipt, and for gifts of $250 or more we send a written acknowledgment for your records.
- Do I have to have a PayPal account?
- No. The PayPal page takes debit and credit cards without an account. Card payments by Stripe are coming to this page too.
- How are the kilometers counted?
- From the official MDS stage timing, for each walker, the evening the stage is done. If one of us does not finish a stage, only what that person walked counts. The counter on the home page shows the running total.
- Can I give a different amount?
- Yes. The presets are just the math at one dollar or five dollars a kilometer. Any amount works, including monthly.
- What happens if you raise more than the house costs?
- It stays in Nepal. It goes to the next family in the same villages who lost a home in the flood, and we will post what was built and what it cost.
- Can I come to Nepal in March?
- Yes. Leave your name on the volunteer form on the home page. You pay your own travel; the donations pay for the house.
