MDS Trek Morocco 2026 · October 11 to 18
Right now: we are walking 120 km across the Sahara to pay for the rebuild.
We are not builders and we are not an aid agency. What we have is eighteen years in those villages and a lot of people who have trusted us before. So from October 13 we do the thing we can do: walk 120 kilometers each through the Sahara in the MDS Trek Morocco, five stages, one night under the stars, and ask you to sponsor the distance. We pay for the trek ourselves. Every dollar you give goes to the house.
Kilometers walked
0 / 240
120 km each for Aaron and Debbie. The first stage starts Tuesday, October 13. The counter moves every evening from the official timing.
How we count: the official stage distance from the MDS timing, for each of us, the evening the stage is done. If one of us does not finish a stage, we count only what that person walked. Bibs 387 and 388, tent 238.

The plan
The good news is, this is simple.
You have probably given to something before and never heard what happened. This time you will. Three steps, and you see every one of them.
- 1
Sponsor a kilometer.
A dollar a kilometer is $120 for one of us, $240 for both. Any amount works. It takes a minute on PayPal, and every cent goes to the house.
Sponsor a kilometer - 2
Watch us walk it.
From October 13 the official GPS tracker shows every step across the Sahara. You will get one email when each stage is done, because the people who follow the walk tend to feel it when the roof goes on.
Follow the walk - 3
See the house go up.
In March we go back to Nepal to build it. You get the photos, the costs, and the day the family moves in. Or come and swing a hammer with us for a week.
Come and build
Before you make your mind up
Without it
A family we love faces another winter without a home of their own. And you keep giving to things you never get to see.
Just imagine March
Walls up. Roof on. A family inside before the rain, and a photo in your inbox because you were part of it. Picture the kids who grew up with us handing over the keys. That is what a dollar a kilometer buys.
Sponsor a kilometer
I'm not sure if it's for you, but most people who get this far give a dollar a kilometer.
Here is what that looks like. 120 kilometers each, so a dollar a kilometer is $120 for one of us or $240 for both. Every gift goes through the Center for Global Change PayPal account, and every dollar of it goes to the house in Nepal, because we pay the trek, the flights and every other cost ourselves.
Any amount works. The presets are just the math.
Opens PayPal in a new tab. Card payments without a PayPal account work there too. PayPal emails you a payment receipt right away, and for any gift of $250 or more we send a written acknowledgment from the Center for Global Change for your tax records.
Or pledge per kilometer
Would you rather pay for the kilometers we actually walk?
Pledge a dollar amount per kilometer or per mile, for one of us or both, with a cap if you like. Nothing is charged now. The evening we cross the finish line you get one email with the distance walked, your total, and a PayPal link. If we walk less, you pay less.
A dollar a kilometer for both of us is $240 if we finish. A dollar a mile is about $149.
Live tracking
Watch us cross the desert, one checkpoint at a time.
Every walker carries a GPS beacon. From the first stage on October 13, the official tracker shows where Aaron (bib 387) and Debbie (bib 388) are, and how far they have come. Look for tent 238. The kilometers you sponsor are the real ones.
The tracker switches on with the first stage.
Until then, here is the organiser's live page for this year's Sahara events. We will embed our own course here the moment the link goes live.
Just one more thing
If this moved you, send it to one person who would want to know. That is how a house gets built.
